「国際アマチュアオーケストラフェスティバル’96イン東京」にドイツから10名の参加者を送ることができてとても光栄に思います。日本から遠く離れた国々を代表して貴大会に参加することの栄誉を強く感じます。

私はべ一トーヴェン、モーツァルトをはじめとするヨーロッパの多くの作曲家たちの作品が、日本でとても大きな人気を博していることを知りました。日本アマチュアオーケストラ連盟（JAO）とドイツアマチュアオーケストラ協会が昨年ホイゼンシュタムにて締結した「友好プログラム」が、両国のアマチュア音楽家の従来からの友好関係をさらに強固なものにすることでしょう。さすれば、今国際フェスティバルの成功はゆるぎないものと思います。

今回訪日する機会を与えて下さったJAOの森下元康理事長に感謝するとともに、日本の友人の皆様にごあいさつ申しあげる次第です。次はぜひドイツにお越し下さい！

It is a great pleasure for us 10 musicians from Germany to be with the International Festival of Amateur Orchestras '96 in Tokyo. In fact it will be a great honour for us to represent a part of the world so far away from Japan.

I learned that the works of Beethoven, Mozart and many other composers from Europe are rather popular in Japan. This gives me the feeling that the Friendship Program JAO-BDLO we agreed upon last year in Heusenstamm, Germany, would have been a confirmation of already existing traditional connections between amateur musicians in both countries. Therefore I am sure that this meeting will be a great success.

Thanks to JAO's chairman Motoyasu Morishita, greetings to our music friends in Japan and welcome in Germany again!
